Biography
The French theatre and opera stage director Florent Siaud is co-founder of the theatre company Les Songes Turbulents. Numerous shows produced by his company were either finalists for or awarded the Prix de la critique du Québec. Since the season 2018-2019, Florent Siaud is also an associate artist at the Théâtre de Compiègne in France.

The season 2024-25 will see the world premiere of Une fête d’enfants by Michel Marc Bouchard at the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montréal, the revival of 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane at the Théâtre de la Ville in Quebec, as well as a chamber version of Tosca for the Théâtre de Compiègne, followed by a tour through France and Belgium, to name a few.

His most recent opera productions include Lully’s Armide at the Drottningholm Slottsteater, Lohengrin at Opéra national du Rhin, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse, a revival tour of his production of La Tragédie de Carmen at the Festival de Saint-Céré and Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, Puccini’s Tosca at Opéra de Reims, as well as the world premiere of Julien Bilodeau’s La beauté du monde at the Opéra de Montréal.

In past seasons, he has staged Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda at Opéra d’Auvergne and at the Stadttheater de Sterzing in Italy, Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at Opéra National de Bordeaux and on tour in Japan, La Tragédie de Carmen–a chamber adaptation of Bizet’s work by Carrière and Brook–at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, and the world premiere of Guillaume Connesson’s Les Bains Macabres at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne and the Théâtre de l’Athénée in Paris.

Particularly passionate about the dramaturgy of the 20th- and 21st-century theatre, Florent Siaud has recently staged in Montreal works such as Don Juan returns from the war by von Horváth, and Illusions and Drunks by Viripaev (Théâtre Prospero,Montréal), as well as Toccate et fugue by Lepage and Pacific Palisades by Corbeil (Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui), Quartett by Müller, 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane (touring in France and Quebec between 2016 and 2024), and as Nina, c’est autre chose by Vinaver (The Chapel), later on tour in Luxembourg and France.

Also on the theatre side, he has produced The Dispute by Marivaux (Studio Alfred-Laliberté), Three Sisters by Chekhov (Monument-National), Shakespeare’s Hamlet (Théâtre Rouge – Conservatoire de musique, Montréal), Britannicus by Racine and The Misanthrope by Molière (Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Montréal). In 2023, he added a vast rewriting of Faust: If you want light. Faust I – II – III to his repertoire, presented at the Théâtre Prospero of Montréal, followed by revivals in Paris, Compiègne and Luxembourg  as well as Ca ira. A former student of Theatre at the École normale supérieure de Lyon, Florent Siaud holds a doctorate in theatre studies in France and Quebec (with the highest honours in France and Canada, as well as a prize for the best thesis in theatre studies in Quebec).
