Biography
The young Brazilian soprano Luiza Willert graduated from the Royal Academy of Music’s Opera Studio in London in 2023, where she studied under Nuccia Focile and Ingrid Surgenor as a recipient of the prestigious Bicentenary Scholarship.

Following her graduation, Luiza was invited to join the renowned Fondazione Mascarade Young Artists Programme in Florence for two seasons till June 2025. During her time with Mascarade, she appeared in numerous concerts and recitals across Italy and Germany, performing at venues such as Teatro della Pergola (Florence), Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Stadthalle Göttingen, and the Circolo dell’Unione (Florence) to name a few.

In January 2025, she made her house and role debut at Staatstheater Wiesbaden as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. In the 2025/26 season, Luiza will join the Opera Studio of Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she is scheduled to perform roles including Clorinda/La Cenerentola, Frasquita/Carmen, Papagena/Die Zauberflöte, and Laura/Casanova.

While studying at the Royal College of Music, she portrayed a variety of roles including Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, Anne Trulove/The Rake’s Progress, Fanny/La cambiale di matrimonio, Rosmene/Imeneo, La Ciesca/Gianni Schicchi, and appeared as Sarah and the Sun Witch in the world premiere of Freya Waley-Cohen’s opera WITCH. During this time, she also participated in the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto and performed in the Solti-Peretti Répétiteurs Course in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, she was also invited to join the masterclass of the prestigious NEUE STIMMEN competition.

From 2019 to 2021, she was a member of the São Paulo Municipal Theatre Opera Studio, performing roles such as First Child-Spirit and First Lady/Die Zauberflöte, Bastienne/Bastien und Bastienne, and Annina/La Traviata.

She has participated in masterclasses with Eliane Coelho, Barbara Frittoli, Ann Murray, and Richard Bonynge.

Luiza Willert is the first prize winner of the 13th International Competition of Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini (2024) and the 18th Concurso Brasileiro de Canto Maria Callas (2020), and a multiple prize-winner at the Linus Lerner International Singing Competition.
