Biography
Louise Kemény is a British-Austrian lyric soprano, acclaimed for her “warm timbre” (FAZ) and “brilliant coloraturas” (Das Opernglas). A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she continues to gain recognition for her expressive vocal artistry across both opera and concert stages.

Most recently she performed Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival, gave her house debut at Vlaamse Opera as Agathe in Der Freischütz, and as Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano at the Internationale Händel-Festspiele Göttingen under George Petrou. On the concert platform, she has performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at Theater Basel and took on the role of Iphis in Handel’s Jephtha with the Monteverdi Chor Hamburg.

Louise Kemény made notable debuts at Theater Basel as Agathe and at MusikTheater an der Wien in Richard III., a pastiche inspired by Shakespeare’s play with music by Purcell. At Theater Bonn, she performed the title role in Handel’s Agrippina, and made further house and role debuts as Sifare in Mozart’s Mitridate at Garsington Opera, Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Opéra de Lille in a new production by Laurent Pelly, Seleuce in Handel’s Tolomeo at the Händel-Festspiele Karlsruhe, and in a staged production of Monteverdi’s Vespers at Opernhaus Zürich, conducted by Riccardo Minasi.
