Biography
Nicola Raab has in recent years earned international acclaim as a director of great sensitivity, detailed character work and visual flair. Her production of Written on Skin at Teatro Comunale Bolzano was awarded the prestigious Premio Franco Abbiati by the Guild of Italian Music Critics in 2016. In 2013, she received the Arets Reumert Prize for Best Danish Opera Production for Otello at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen.

Among the highlights of her 2025/26 season are Janáček’s Jenůfa at GöteborgsOperan and a new staging of Hänsel und Gretel at Staatstheater Darmstadt.

Most recent productions include Traetta’s Ifigenia in Tauride with Les Talens Lyriques at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Verdi’s Edgar at Opéra de Nice and a revival of her acclaimed Boris Godunov at the Savonlinna Opera Festival.

Ms Raab has also directed Norma at the Festival della Valle d’Itria (with Fabio Luisi and Leila Fteita), Ulisses by Keiser for Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn (co-produced with Theater Heidelberg), and Die Fledermaus at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique Paris in collaboration with the Philharmonie de Paris.
