Biography
Swiss tenor Fabio Trümpy studied with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam and is a former ensemble member of the Opernhaus Zürich as well as recipient of the Prix des Amis du Festival d’Art Lyrique in Aix-en-Provence.Highlights of the season 2023-24 include Ugone in a new production of Flavio at Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival and Theater an der Wien with Concerto Köln and Benjamin Bayl, Bach’s Matthäus-Passion with the Gürzenich Orchester and Peter Dijkstra, Martin’s Le vin herbé with NDR Vokalensemble and Klaas Stok, Bach’s Osteroratorium with PRJCT Amsterdam and Flemish Radio Choir in Brussels, Amsterdam and Cologne as well as concerts with Cappella Mediterranea and at the Händelfestspiele Göttingen.
Most recent highlights include the title role in Prometeo by Antonio Draghi at Opéra de Dijon, conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón, Handel’s Acis and Galatea with the Orchestra Philharmonique de Radio France, Zadok in Handel’s Solomon at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and Peter Dijkstra, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with the Vlaams Radiokoor and Kazushi Ono as well as Draghi’s Il Dono della Vita eterna with Cappella Mediterranea and Leonardo García Alarcón.
Elsewhere, he has appeared as Oronte in a new production of Alcina by Katie Mitchell, conducted by Andrea Marcon, at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow as well as for Hamburgische Staatsoper, where he also sang Telemaco in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria. Furthermore, he has performed Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Beaune Festival under Jérémie Rhorer, Tamino/Die Zauberflöte at the Spoleto Festival in the US, Camille/Die lustige Witwe at the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, Aleya/House from the Dead staged by Calixto Bieito at Theater Basel, Pane/La Calisto and Fritz in Offenbach’s La Grande-duchesse de Gerolstein, both at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and Pastore in Sasha Waltz’ production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo at Festspielhaus Baden Baden, Opera de Lille and Berlin State Opera, with the Freiburger Barockorchester, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado.
With the Orchestra of the 18th Century Fabio Trümpy has performed Evangelist in Bach’s Johannes-Passion and tenor arias in the Matthäus-Passion, Jaquino in Beethoven’s Fidelio, Basilio and Don Curzio/Le Nozze di Figaro and Haydn’s Schöpfung.
Other concert appearances include Bach Cantatas with the Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich under Giovanni Antonioni, Mozart’s Requiem, Don Ottavio at the theatre in Versailles and Evangelist in Bach’s Johannes-Passion on European tour, all with Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski, Bach’s Trauerode with the Gulbenkian Orchestra under Leonardo García Alarcón, Schubert’s Stabat Mater with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under James Gaffigan, Donizetti’s Requiem at the Festival St. Denis, chamber version of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde at the Stift Music Festival, Le berger in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under Charles Dutoit, Iro in Hans Werner Henze’s adaptation of Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln and Kurt Weill’s Berliner Requiem with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich under David Zinman and Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium with the Residentie Orkest, Züricher Kammerorchester and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
