Biography
Swiss tenor Fabio Trümpy enjoys an international concert and opera career, especially in the Baroque and Classical repertoire. He has been praised for his “warm, mellow tenor (…) a vocal marvel” (classiquenews.com).The 2026–2027 season features performances of C.P.E. Bach’s Magnificat with Zürcher Singakademie and Florian Helgath – a work he will also perform with Choeur Accentus alongside Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah with PRJCT Amsterdam and the Vlaams Radiokoor as well as Bach’s Matthäus-Passion with Orkest Phion and Jan Willem de Vriend. With Cappella Mediterranea and Leonardo García Alarcón he will perform and record Draghi’s Il Dono della vita eterna.
More recent engagements include Ugone in a new production of Flavio at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival, the title role in Draghi’s Prometeo at Opéra de Dijon under Leonardo García Alarcón, Acis and Galatea with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and Zadok in Handel’s Solomon at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Other concert projects include Bach’s Matthäus-Passion with both the Gürzenich Orchester and the Noord Nederlands Orkest under Peter Dijkstra, Frank Martin’s Le vin herbé with the NDR Vokalensemble and with the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne and Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with the Vlaams Radiokoor and Kazushi Ono.
A former ensemble member of Opernhaus Zurich, Fabio Trümpy has appeared at leading houses and festivals including Staatsoper Hamburg, Moscow’s Bolshoi theatre, Staatsoper Berlin, Theater Basel, Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Festspielhaus Baden Baden, Opera de Lille and the festivals in Beaune and Spoleto (US). His repertoire spans roles such as Don Ottavio/Don Giovanni, Tamino/Die Zauberflöte, Jaquino/Fidelio, Oronte/Alcina, Basilio and Don Curzio/Le nozze di Figaro, Telemaco/Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Pastore/Orfeo, Camille/Die lustige Witwe, Aleya/House from the Dead, Pane/La Calisto and Fritz/La Grande-duchesse de Gerolstein.
He has collaborated with conductors including Marc Minkowski, René Jacobs, Andrea Marcon, Jérémie Rhorer, Pablo Heras-Casado, Giovanni Antonioni, Jan-Willem de Vriend, Christopher Moulds, Klaas Stok, Benjamin Bayl, James Gaffigan and Charles Dutoit, and performed with renowned ensembles such as Les Musiciens du Louvre, Concerto Köln, Freiburger Barockorchester, BR Symphonieorchester, Bergen Philharmonic, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Het Residentie Orkest, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Tonhalle Orchester Zurich, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Fabio Trümpy studied with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam and is a recipient of the Prix des Amis du Festival d’Art Lyrique in Aix-en-Provence.
